Beyond the Show Floor: Reflections from SEMA 2025

The lights have dimmed on another SEMA show, the elaborate builds have been loaded onto trailers, and the Las Vegas Convention Center has returned to its usual hum. But some conversations from the show floor are still echoing in my mind.
What Actually Matters at Trade Shows
Walking through SEMA is an assault on the senses. With over 2,000 exhibitors competing for attention, it's easy to get caught up in the spectacle – the custom builds, the celebrity appearances, the carefully choreographed demonstrations. But here's what I realized after years of attending and exhibiting: none of that is what makes these shows worthwhile.
What matters are the moments when someone stops by your booth not because of flashy marketing, but because they're genuinely curious about solving a problem. When they ask thoughtful questions about their specific repair challenges. When you can tell they're mentally working through how a tool or technique might fit into their workflow.
The Real Value of Face-to-Face
In an age where we can video conference with someone across the globe, attend virtual trade shows, and consume endless content online, there's something irreplaceable about in-person connection. At SEMA, you can see someone's eyes light up when a solution clicks. You can sketch out ideas on the spot. You can share war stories about difficult repairs that remind you both why you got into this business in the first place.
This year's conversations reminded me that the automotive repair and customization community isn't just about transactions – it's about relationships built on shared challenges, mutual respect, and genuine passion for the craft.
A Simple Thank You
To everyone who stopped by our booth this year: thank you. Seriously.
I know your schedule was packed. I know your feet hurt from miles of walking concrete floors. I know you had a list of specific exhibitors you needed to see and probably missed lunch to fit everything in.
The fact that you carved out a few minutes to talk with us – whether you were looking for a specific solution or just wanted to learn about what we do – means more than you might realize.
Moving Forward
Trade shows like SEMA are intense. They're energizing and exhausting in equal measure. My hope is that you left with more than just a bag full of promotional items and business cards. I hope you made connections that will turn into real collaborations, discovered solutions that will make your work easier, or simply felt the camaraderie of being surrounded by people who understand what you do.
If any questions have come up since the show, or if you're working through an idea we discussed, don't hesitate to reach out. The conversation doesn't have to end when the show does.
And if you captured any photos at our booth – whether it's a shot of our equipment, a candid moment, or just proof that you survived another year of SEMA – we'd genuinely love to see them. Tag us @dentfixequipment or send them our way.
Here's to another year of great work, solved problems, and the community that makes this industry special.
See you at the next one.
